Two months after launching at the 6th National Deafness Sector Summit in Sydney, Ai-Live featured last night on ABC's The New Inventor program - up against a ride-in organic weeder and a 7-in1 matrix lock system.
Three and a half years in development,
Ai-Live™ is an end-to-end system that converts audio to word-accurate text - in any web browser - in under 7 seconds.
Ai-Live™ is powered by a remote respeaker who listens and respeaks conversation into a trained speech recognition program, with punctuation (
see WordNerd article).
Ai-Live™ has been designed as a practical, affordable, reliable and scalable solution to allow deaf and hearing impaired students to participate fully in mainstream schools; and also to deliver access to higher education, work, community courses and conferences.
“The New Inventors provided a great framework to tell the story – that innovation using technology to deliver improvements in access can really change people’s lives for the better” Ai-Media CEO, Tony Abrahams.
“There has been a strong focus on access and ability throughout this year’s season”, Ai-Media co-founder and director, Alex Jones commented, “In the leadup to the debate on the National Disability Insurance Scheme – and disability reform more broadly – this is a welcome development.”
Following a successful preliminary pilot with the NSW Department of Education,
Ai-Live™ is currently seeking expressions of interest to participate in a National Pilot of at least 62 students in up to 35 schools in all states and territories.
