Ai-Media's Alex Jones and Leonie Jackson have been announced as 2010 Don't DIS my ABILITY campaign ambassadors.
In support of the International Day of People with a Disability, The New South Wales Government runs the Don’t DIS my ABILITY campaign. This year’s campaign will be promoted by 21 people with a disability, from backgrounds ranging across sport and arts to education and business. As part of the campaign, 150 events will be held across NSW in the month leading up to the International Day of People with a Disability.
The campaign ambassadors have a diverse range of abilities, and through their achievements have become role models for the disabled community.
Ai-Media’s Alex Jones and Leonie Jackson have been announced as ambassadors for this year’s campaign.
“It's been an honour to share this role with other talented, passionate and inspirational ambassadors for the last six years.
Everyday is a day of celebration of who we are but this campaign is an opportunity for us to come together and create one message as role models and make an important impact in today's society. It’s clever, it’s snappy and I'm damn proud”, said Alex Jones.
“I am excited and honoured to join the awesome and inspiring line up of high calibre Don’t DIS my ABILITY ambassadors this year to celebrate who we are and what we are capable of”, said Leonie Jackson.
By sharing their stories, the ambassadors will help to generate awareness about people living with a disability. This will help to change misconceptions surrounding disability, by creating an environment that encourages participation in careers, leisure pursuits and social activities.
