Hearing Awareness Week

Hearing Awareness Week

The purpose of Hearing Awareness Week is to raise awareness and understanding of hearing loss.

Events have been organised to provide people with a hearing impairment with the opportunity to share their personal knowledge and experiences, informing people about ways of protecting their hearing and how to seek professional help early on whilst helping to create a greater understanding of their needs and aspirations.

Hearing Awareness Week also coincides with the 2010 Captioning Awards, to be on Thursday August 26 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney. Hosted by Deafness Forum, the peak body for deafness in Australia, the Awards acknowledge innovations and initiatives within the captioning industry. Ai-Media's Tony Abrahams will be speaking on the night about 'The End of Disability'.
