Employment Participation Minister Mark Arbib and Disabilities and Children’s Services Parliamentary Secretary Bill Shorten have unveiled the Government’s new National Mental Health and Disability Employment Strategy.
The strategy aims to assist Australians with disability, including the Deaf and hearing impaired, find work.
It recognises the importance of education and training as a pathway to sustainable employment, and the role of employers in increasing work opportunities for the disabled. The strategy also aims to address the barriers such people face that make it harder for them to gain and keep work.
Ai-Media is hopeful that by working in tandem with the Government, it can play a role in helping empower these people by providing greater access solutions for them within the workplace and places of study, such as schools, universities and TAFE.
