At the upcoming POD (Parents of Deaf) Christmas party on 23. November, Alex Jones and Leonie Jackson, from Ai-Media, will be sharing their personal journey growing up and their thoughts on parenting, as proud parents of two boys, one being deaf.
Their personal journey includes their experiences attending mainstream schools, which in turn evolved their idea for Ai-Live™. Ai-Live™ is an exciting new access solution that has been designed to deliver practical inclusion for deaf and hearing impaired students in school. It is an innovative way to enable access to information that they would otherwise be missing.
While they were in high school, Alex and Leonie often relied on lip-reading during classes and had to resort to borrowing their classmates’ notes in order to keep up. Their involvement in the development and pilots of Ai-Live™ in schools has made them more appreciative and passionate about the possibility of closing the gap in the classroom, for many deaf and hearing impaired students.
As parents, they are passionate about paving the way for access and inclusion for their son and his friends. With new technologies like Ai-Live™ the possibilities for their son’s future are endless.
