The Senate Community Affairs References Committee today tabled its report titled Hear Us: Inquiry into Hearing Health in Australia. The issues most commonly raised with the committee concerned access and services. The committee has made a number of recommendations to address these issues.
The report focuses on the prevalence of hearing loss in Australia and the issues faced by those who are hearing impaired. These issues include access and services, educational opportunities and lack of support in the criminal justice system.
The committee makes a number of recommendations which, if implemented, will address many of the topics raised during the inquiry.
