The Deaf Festival is the largest gathering of the Deaf Community in Sydney. The event takes place annually and this year was held on Saturday 21st October on the Parramatta River Foreshore Reserve. The 2017 Deaf Festival was a great day filled with activities that everyone could enjoy including food, market stalls, performances, games, and a jumping castle for the kids. The main form of communication at the festival was Auslan (Australian Sign Language).

Ai-Media was a proud sponsor of the event and were excited to provide live captioning for the main presentations throughout the day to accompany the Auslan interpreters. We had a wonderful day meeting everyone who visited our stall! Our team included people fluent in Auslan and others who were just learning. We had a great time learning new signs and having conversations with everyone at the Festival. We were very excited to tell everyone that we are now NDIS-registered live captioning providers. If you didn’t get a chance to chat to us about our NDIS live captioning, you can find out more information by clicking here or getting in touch!

Big thank you to the Deaf Society of NSW for organising the Deaf Festival, we’re already looking forward to next year!
