Tony co-founded Ai-Media in 2003. Tony served as a Director of Northcott Disability Services from 2010 to 2018, and was recognized by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader in 2013.
In previous roles, Tony worked to establish the Oxford Internet Institute in 2001, while attending the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. Tony has been a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors since 2006.
Chief Financial Officer
John Bird is an experienced executive and recently held the role of CFO and COO of Regeneus, an ASX-listed biotechnology company, where he worked alongside Ai-Media Non-Executive Director John Martin in his former role as Chairman and CEO of the company. Previously, Mr Bird provided financial and strategic management services to ASX-listed companies, including on mergers and acquisitions.
Mr Bird is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Chartered Secretaries Australia. He holds a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University.
Chief People Officer
Donna joined Ai-Media in March 2021 after five years as the Director of Content Service Operations for Foxtel Media. She holds degrees in Law, Human Resources, Economics, Nutritional Science, and a Master of Law & Relations. Donna has more than 20 years’ experience in Human Resources and Operations. She has executed global people strategies throughout APAC and America before expanding her role into broadcast operations at Fox Sports. In that executive role, Donna as a key lead of the 2 year Fox Sports ‘Move’ project was responsible for the national broadcast infrastructure transition from Fox Sports’ old home in Sydney’s Pyrmont to Artarmon. Her experience with large and diverse teams as well as her passion for people development, mentoring, coaching and employee engagement will round out Donna’s key Ai-Media responsibilities.
Sue joined Ai-Media in 2011 and is responsible for assisting the Board and company in meeting its fiduciary, legal, compliance and corporate governance obligations. She has held roles within former ASX-listed companies including Austar United Communications Limited where she was part of the corporate development and legal affairs team, and at Lake Technology Limited and Excel Coal Limited where she held senior administrative roles. Sue is a pivotal point of contact for the Board, investors, senior executives, staff and industry peers, and has led AIM’s People and Culture team during her tenure.
She is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds a Certificate in Governance Practice from the Governance Institute of Australia. Sue served as a Director on the inaugural Board of the Global Alliance of Speech to Text Captioning, a US-based non-profit corporation which is dedicated to universal accessibility to the spoken word via all forms of captioning.
Chief Customer Officer
Philip is co-founder of ACS, and PostCAP, LLC — a family of text creation companies which Ai-Media acquired in May 2020. Prior to launching ACS, Phil spent six years as vice president of another national captioning company. Before that, he was Executive Director of a television production company specializing in Christian media that focused on supporting the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. Philip holds an undergraduate degree in Education from Concordia University Chicago, a Masters’ degree in Instructional Design from Northern Illinois University, and became a Certified Manager of Reporting Services through the National Court Reporters Association. He successfully completed the Text Interpreting (TypeWell) training program and became a proficient transcriber. He pioneered remote CART Captioning bringing it into the mainstream and also was the first to offer Text Interpreting on a national level. He spent time in Washington, DC, for several years as a member of the Federal Communications Committee (FCC) subcommittee on disability. Based in Illinois, he was a founding mentor of the local business incubator program at one of the nation’s best high schools.
Chief Information Officer
Megan joined Ai-Media in May 2020 after four years as Head of IT for Seven West Media. She has degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Newcastle. Megan has more than 20 years’ experience in IT, starting as a developer, moving through project management into general IT leadership. She has worked primarily in the media, engineering and mining industries. Specifically within media, this included working as a Program Director for BCC Adsystems, after working for GroupM, initially based in Australia as the IT Business and Development Manager and then spending three years as the APAC Applications Director based in Singapore.
Chief Sales Officer
James Ward joined Ai-Media in 2013 based in Sydney Australia, and was responsible for Ai-Media’s People Team for five years, leading the business through significant growth periods as Ai-Media increased its presence in the APAC region. In 2018, James relocated to London to lead Ai-Media’s expansion in to the EMEA region. In the role of VP-EMEA, James delivered exponential growth in the access services and multi-language localization market throughout EMEA. Now in the role of Chief Sales Officer, James works with our customers on a global level to understand and meet their requirements in a growing market.
Chief Product Officer
Bill McLaughlin is CTO at EEG and also now Chief Product Officer globally at Ai-Media. Since 2007, Bill has been with EEG in software development, engineering management, and product roles, and has architected the company’s leading software solutions including iCap, Falcon, Lexi, and Alta. Bill initiated EEG’s entry into cloud SAAS business models which have become the company’s fastest growing segment and is a leader in the live IP video production community. Bill holds Masters and Bachelors degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Columbia University.
Phil has led EEG since 2000, increasing overall revenue by a factor of five, and transitioning the company from a respected hardware equipment manufacturer servicing television broadcasters into a balanced provider of hardware, software, and SaaS solutions servicing new customers in streaming and OTT video, government, and global enterprise accessibility. Phil has been involved in broadcast closed captioning in the United States since its inception and was the principal engineer on the original consumer closed caption decoder chip, which went into tens of millions of television sets worldwide. Prior to his work at EEG, Phil was involved in engineering and entrepreneurship in the voice processing and video games industries throughout the 1980s.
